Vintage sexist ad

January 19, 2010 1 comment

Ridiculous. A vintage Mr. Leggs ad:

The text:

Though she was a tiger lady, our hero didn’t have to fire a shot to floor her. After one look at his Mr. Leggs slacks, she was ready for him to walk all over her. That noble styling sure soothes the savage heart! If you’d like your own doll-to-doll carpeting, hunt up a pair of these he-man Mr. Leggs slacks. Such as our new automatic wash wear blend of 65% “Dacron” and 35% rayon – incomparably wrinkle-resistant. About $12.95 at plush carpeted stores.

Clean & Clear ad pulled

January 11, 2010 Leave a comment

A misleading Clean & Clear ad from the UK has been pulled, due to the fact that they used “light powder” for after shots of the women who are in the ad. Let’s look at a picture:

Um, yeah. There’s clearly some makeup enhancement going on there. Even if this woman’s skin did improve (which it very well might have), you can just tell when someone has makeup on, and she definitely does. But when this kind of thing is done, when the “after” shot is just sooooo perfect, it usually makes the rest of us women feel like shit.

But how am I not surprised? We should all know by now that the media is very deceptive and will do anything to make women feel bad about themselves so they’ll go out and buy every product under the sun. I know. I’ve been there and done that.

I’m glad this ad has been pulled, despite it only being one of many ads that probably should be pulled. However, it all has to start somewhere, right? Feel free to make your own judgment. Watch the ad below:

Toyota Yaris commercial pulled in Australia

December 15, 2009 1 comment

This Toyota Yaris commercial has been pulled off the air in Australia, because of complaints about sexism and possible slight incest.

Yeah, it’s a little much. And kind of gross and verbally objectifying. Also, everything was being said as if he was going to do it to her, not necessarily with her. Glad it’s off the air!

I love me some Sarah Haskins!

November 19, 2009 Leave a comment

Sarah Haskins has come out with a new Target Women! It’s about Broadview Security and it’s of course, a great new video!

What I especially love is that it’s clear that males are the ones that are breaking into the homes and are a threat, however, it’s also men that “save the day” and are the “hero” because those are the men that work at Broadview Security and call you, when your house has been broken into. I love that Sarah brings that up!

Well, Reebok sucks!

Thanks to Sociological Images for this one!

Reebok has a new ad campaign out for their EasyTone shoes. This ad campaign pretty much consists of objectifying women. There are 3 new ads for it, which can all be seen at Sociological Images, but here I’m just going to show you the one that I think is the worst!

Misogynistic (and banned) ad of the day!

July 21, 2009 Leave a comment

I don’t even have words.

This an OBVIOUSLY a banned Sprite ad that gives everyone the idea that women just LOVE guys to cum in their mouth! Yeah…um, NOT. It’s quite a patriarchal and dominating male idea. Sick. Honestly, just sick.

UPDATE: This ad was never supposed to air, but honestly, it doesn’t really matter to me, because it’s still sick.

Random rant!

October 31, 2007 Leave a comment

Alright, everytime I go to check my Facebook, I see this “Facebook Flyer” promoting cosmetic surgery. The picture is of a really, really skinny girl with big boobs and blonde hair. I am sick of this ad! I mean, children and young teens have Facebook! Why are you bombarding them with cosmetic surgery?! We know that is it becoming increasing popular for younger women and men, although the aim is always women. Because you know, we aren’t good enough the way we are. Our boobs are big enough, our lips aren’t big enough, our tummy is too big and our nose has a bump. And the younger the people you send this message to, they’ll simply belief it, then give into cosmetic surgery, spending oodles of money and feeding the cosmetic capitalist system.

Done rant.
