I agree with you totally. I was a pregnant teen and it was mine (and my now husband) who made the choice. The school we went to was not allowed to do any kind of Sex Ed. Even my AP Biology class spent only 1 day on the reproductive cycle. I'm not blaming the school or the lack of parent involvement for my girl coming into the world, but the school I went to had a really high pregnancy rate. The numbers should have been saying something a long time ago. We all should have been more educated. And it is not ALWAYS the girl who gets pregnant, but the couple.

Your comments are completely valid. And what you said, men being "beasts", that's a whole other issue that needs to be looked at. I think it's very unfortunate that many men and boys are perceived in that way. Personally, I agree that men get excused because they are sometimes perceived as "beasts." But because men are expected to be certain way, and then excused, it feeds into the notion that "boys will be boys," and that their behaviour is ultimately acceptable. However, on a woman's end, she's put to shame if she doesn't fulfill her "lady-like duty."

But the fact of the matter is, the media is extremely influential and since it's mainly talking about Jamie Lynn and her mother, it may lead to more people forgetting about the men in this issue, or it could just be an afterthought. That's simply not fair for them and every other woman who has gone through this situation.

He's been pre-blamed and then excused - mental incompetence I guess - because that's the way men are - beasts. Oh, she's getting her own share of the crap too; I freely admit that.

On the opposite end, girls are expected to be spotless and pure. That's a point I was trying to get at. It is impossible to be spotless and pure and when a girl does something wrong, she's completely shamed for it. Her boyfriend isn't being shamed and being put through the same process as her (obviously, it wouldn't be on the same level completely because of her "fame" and his "nobody" status) It is true that the male sex is expected to be "bad, irresponsible and incorrigible," but because of that, he's getting none of the blame. And well, this obviously takes two people!

I don't know why you're complaining; it's men - her boyfriend in particular - who are being insulted by their attitude. We're automatically assumed to be rampaging lechers with neither thought nor care for contraceptives. That's why people focus on the girls; guys are assumed to bad, irresponsible and incorrigible.
